-Gloria Naylor, Mama Day
Agree or disagree?
I personally would disagree. I think it brings a certain magic to it, but that magic is tainted with bittersweetness. That's different than the novel magic that comes with the first time you do something. There's something special about the first time, and there's something special about the last time. Both times are very alive, but in different ways.
What do you think?

We never really do the same thing twice, I think. If the first time through was enough to turn us into something completely new, then the last time we do it--it's being done by a completely new person. The two can't be compared, perhaps.
The real heartbreak happens when you do something for the last time, and you don't realize it's the last time. And then there are some things, like my last day at Kentucky Fried Chicken, that I don't regret or feel nostalgic about at all. (Sorry, Colonel Sanders, but I've just got to be honest. I was glad when it ended.)
